Mount Pleasant Man Detained For Child Exploitation Following Tip: Attorney General Wilson

A Mount Pleasant man has been detained in connection with the sexual exploitation of kids, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson stated on Thursday.

Darryn Eugene Himes, 45, faces 10 counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, according to Wilson. Each count is a felony punishable by up to ten years in jail. On Tuesday, Jan. 28, they detained him.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children provided a tip that led investigators to Himes, according to Wilson. Authorities alleged Himes possessed files including child sexual abuse materials.

Wilson said Himes was out on bond from a prior arrest for comparable crimes in 2023. The Attorney General’s Office will handle the case.
