On Christmas Eve, a nurse from Bedford County made a spontaneous decision to purchase a lottery ticket and decided to keep it tucked away in her Bible. Much to her surprise, that very ticket ended up being worth a whopping one million dollars.
Jacqueline Mangus purchased a ticket for Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle from the Virginia Lottery on the day before Christmas. Interestingly, she chose to store the ticket in her Bible.
As she was preparing for her nursing job, she came across the news about the raffle results and decided to check her number. To her surprise, she discovered that she had won.
“I couldn’t contain my excitement!” she exclaimed to Virginia Lottery officials.
But what mattered even more to her than winning the prize was her job. So, she went to work as usual on that day.
According to the Virginia Lottery, a million-dollar winning ticket was purchased by her at Lake Mart & Deli in Moneta. She is one of the five lucky Virginians who bought a ticket in Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle and won the grand prize.
