Ohio experiences earthquake on Tuesday morning

The USGS confirmed that an earthquake struck areas of Ohio early Tuesday morning. The earthquake happened 1 mile southeast of Reno, Ohio, along the Ohio River, which borders West Virginia.

The earthquake had a magnitude of 2.2 and happened 3 miles underground. Earthquakes of this scale are scarcely noticeable by humans; hence, there were no injuries or damage. While minor earthquakes are widespread in this area, the Valley is one of the places least likely to experience a destructive earthquake in the United States, according to the USGS.

The places most prone to damaging earthquakes in the United States include sections of the Mississippi River Valley, the West Coast, Alaska, and Hawaii.
