Criminals will go to great lengths to avoid getting caught, even if their efforts seem futile. This was demonstrated when an Oklahoma man and his passenger, desperate to evade the police, crashed through the fenceline of an Air Force Base.
Highway patrol in Oklahoma chased a man and his cohort until they crashed through the fenceline at Tinker Air Force Base
An Oklahoma Highway Patrol car captured dash cam footage of a dark sedan zooming down a spacious road. The police were in pursuit of the car after receiving a report that it had been stolen. Despite the officers’ attempts to bring the vehicle to a halt, the driver refused to comply, resulting in a thrilling high-speed chase.
The intentions of the runaway driver remain unclear, but it appears that they miscalculated the upcoming corner. In their attempt to navigate the turn, the black sedan veered past the row of Jersey barriers. Within moments, the car careened over a barrier and collided with a chain link fence. Interestingly, this particular fence was not associated with a storage facility or a sports complex; rather, it stood near one of the gates at Tinker Air Force Base.
The police officers in pursuit came to a halt just before the collision. They shone their spotlights on the mangled sedan and demanded that the two car thieves give up and come out with their hands raised. The driver complied, moving cautiously towards the arresting officers. However, the passenger decided to make a run for it, leaping over the shattered fence.
The man didn’t stay at the Air Force Base for long. After the crash, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol apprehended the second criminal. It’s understandable that the United States Air Force (USAF) wouldn’t permit a car thief to break through the fence and flee onto the installation.
Tinker Air Force Base is home to the 72nd Air Base Wing and tens of thousands of personnel. As a result, USAF Security Forces would not tolerate a wanted auto thief wandering the grounds. Check out the video of the collision below!
