A man wanted for stabbing a woman to death at a Memphis motel was captured in Arkansas on Friday morning, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
On Friday, January 24, police arrested Styrone Walker, 36, in the 200 block of Jackson Heights Cove in West Memphis.
The Marshals said Walker was wanted for a homicide that occurred weeks earlier at a motel in southwest Memphis. The motel tragically witnessed the murder of Angelica Taylor on January 2. In connection with her murder, authorities issued a warrant for Walker’s arrest on January 16.
Marshals received assistance from the West Memphis Police Department in apprehending Walker. The day before his arrest, the WMPD issued a warning to persons who commit crimes on one side of the Mississippi River and then cross state borders.
“HEY MEMPHIS, LISTEN UP,” WMPD wrote on Facebook. “The West Memphis Police Department does NOT play! Think you an act up and just head back to your side of the bridge? Think again! You’re gonna get locked up on THIS side of the bridge—and not in the way you’re hoping. If you think crossing he river is your ‘getaway,’ well, surprise! That bridge doesn’t lead to freedom, it leads straight to cuffs and bookings. So keep it cute, or keep it moving—because once you’re on West Memphis soil, you’re playing by their rules. And trust me, their rules are all about getting you locked up. Cross at your own risk.”
