In the wake of President Donald Trump’s announcement of his Mass Deportation Plan, reports have emerged of nearly two dozen immigrant arrests in a county in Mississippi.
On Monday, President Trump took action by signing an executive order granting the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency the power to detain undocumented immigrants residing in the country unlawfully.
ICE agents made a series of arrests on Tuesday and Wednesday, apprehending 20 individuals for illegal entry into the United States. These individuals are classified as “illegal entry-aliens,” which refers to foreign-born individuals who entered the country without authorization or overstayed their permitted period of stay.
The individuals who have been arrested, belonging to Hispanic and Asian nationalities, are currently being held at the Madison County Detention Center. The exact locations where these arrests took place remain unclear.
An August 2024 report from the Mississippi Office of the State Auditor reveals that the state is home to approximately 22,000 undocumented migrants.

As of this publication, The Clarion Ledger has reached out to both the Madison County Sheriff’s Department and ICE for a response to these recent arrests. However, neither agency has provided a response at this time.
The current arrests do not seem to be part of a large-scale raid like the one that took place in 2019. In that incident, hundreds of immigration officials descended upon seven food processing plants in Mississippi and apprehended approximately 680 individuals suspected of residing and working in the country without authorization.
The authorities have described it as the largest immigration operation in over a decade and the largest single-state raid to date.
