Central Pennsylvania is experiencing a range of disruptions and safety measures due to the arrival of a snowstorm.
Due to the impending storm, numerous churches in central Pennsylvania have either canceled or reduced their Sunday worship schedule and other activities. The region is expected to receive 4 to 6 inches of snow before the storm clears out tonight.
Several churches in Pennsylvania had to make adjustments due to inclement weather. For instance, the Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dover, York County, made the decision to close for the day at 10:45 a.m. Similarly, the Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church in Harrisburg canceled its morning service. The First United Methodist Church of Hershey, Dauphin County, went a step further and canceled all worship services, as well as all afternoon and evening activities.
If you have plans to attend a church service or any other event on Sunday, it would be wise to check their website, social media, or make a phone call. The weather conditions are expected to worsen from late morning through the afternoon, so it’s important to confirm if the event is still happening.
If you had plans to visit any business on Sunday, the same advice applies.

Many school districts have already decided to close on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Day. However, there may still be some lingering cancelations or delays on Tuesday morning due to the forecasted windy conditions and dangerously cold temperatures that will follow the storm.
The Gamut Theatre Group in Harrisburg had to cancel its Sunday matinee performance of “Much Ado About Nothing” that was originally scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The group has not yet announced a new date for the performance. However, they assure all patrons who purchased tickets that they will receive refunds. The refunds will be processed back to the original payment methods. The theater group has also mentioned that the refunds will be issued on Sunday, but it may take a few days for them to reflect in your bank statement. In case you do not receive your refund by January 25th, it is recommended to contact the theater group.
The Shops at Rockvale in Lancaster County took to Facebook to announce that they will not be open on Sundays.
The Black Pastors United for Education (BPUE) had to postpone their town hall event, which was originally planned for Monday. The event was set to take place at 6:30 p.m. at the New Covenant Church of Philadelphia, located at 7500 Germantown Ave. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the town hall will be rescheduled for a later date.
