A Texas man has admitted to stealing almost $400,000 from a couple in Maine.
Upon their return from vacation in October 2022, the couple informed the Justice Department that they had incurred a loss of approximately $400,000 in wire transfers from their bank account.
According to investigators, an individual posing as the account holder contacted the bank and successfully modified the contact email address and phone number.
In a span of two weeks, 27-year-old Kyle Lawless Pollar conducted numerous transfers amounting to over $360,000, as confirmed by the FBI. Additionally, he withdrew cash and obtained cashier’s checks, all of which were deposited into his bank accounts.
Pollar admitted his guilt in committing wire fraud and now faces a potential prison sentence of up to 20 years.
