Fatal fire in Mesa claims life of individual inside travel trailer

A person was discovered dead after a fire erupted inside a travel trailer in Mesa during the early hours of Saturday morning, according to authorities.

A fire broke out in a travel trailer parked in a dirt lot near Broadway Road and Country Club Drive at around 5:30 a.m., as reported by Mesa Fire. After successfully extinguishing the fire, firefighters discovered the lifeless body of an individual inside the trailer.

The fire also destroyed a vehicle that was parked next to the trailer.

Investigators do not suspect any suspicious activity regarding the fire. Mesa police are currently investigating the exact cause, but they speculate that the victim may have been using a propane-style stove for cooking and heating purposes in the trailer.

Broadway Road remained closed for a few hours but was reopened shortly after 7 a.m.
