The State of Texas is actively responding to the devastating California wildfires by deploying 135 firefighters and emergency personnel, accompanied by over 45 fire engines. This deployment is being directed by the Governor through the Texas Division of Emergency Management and Texas A&M Forest Service.
The City of Beaumont has not received a direct request to send resources and will not voluntarily deploy them at this time to prioritize local safety, according to a press release from the city. Fire Chief Earl White underlined the necessity of protecting local residents, particularly after two fire fatalities during the recent cold front. “Our thoughts and prayers are certainly with the citizens and first responders in the path of the fires,” White told reporters. Beaumont has historically responded to California catastrophes and will consider any requests from the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS) via the Texas A&M Forest Service before deciding on resource deployment.
