1-year-old Girl Critically Injured In Crash At Montessori School In Nw Bexar County Has Passed Away, Her Father Says

A tragic incident occurred at the Excelled Montessori Plus School in Bexar County, Texas, on December 19, 2024. Regrettably, a 1-year-old girl who sustained critical injuries in the crash has passed away.

Pibo Amrani, the father of 1-year-old Mkaya, tragically confirmed her passing to KSAT on January 2, 2025.

The crash occurred at around 4:15 p.m. on December 19, 2024, in the 27500 block of Interstate 10 near Fair Oaks Ranch Parkway.

Bexar County Sheriff Salazar revealed during a news conference on December 19, 2024, that the crash occurred as parents were picking up their children following a holiday performance.

After a parent loaded her kids into a vehicle, she accelerated into another car, ramming both vehicles through a fence.

According to Salazar, the car had pinned the teacher and the group of children at the playground on the other side of the fence.

On December 19, 2024, Salazar reported that the hospital had admitted the five children. Currently, the condition of the four remaining children is uncertain.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the teacher who tragically lost their life in the December 20, 2024, crash.

The woman’s name was Alexia Rosales, and she was 22 years old.

According to BCSO, the children were approximately one year old at the time, as of December 20, 2024. Additionally, a 23-year-old woman was transported to the hospital due to injuries.

In an email to KSAT, a fire chief from the Bexar County Emergency Services District 4 stated that in addition to those who were taken to the hospital, one adult and two children received treatment and were released at the scene.

A school spokesperson has confirmed that another teacher was injured in the accident and has been transported to a nearby hospital.

According to Salazar on December 19, 2024, the driver responsible for the crash may have had a medical history that could have contributed to the accident. It is important to note that there is no belief or suspicion of intoxication in this case.

Salazar stated that it remains uncertain whether any charges will be brought against the driver involved in the crash.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office stated on Thursday that they are still conducting their investigation and there are no new updates available at this time.

Excelled Montessori issued a statement to KSAT on Friday morning.
