Authorities in South Carolina have called off an Amber Alert on Friday morning after locating a missing young child who has been found safe.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division issued an alert early Friday morning, stating that Dylan Saige Cooper, a 1-year-old girl, was missing. However, just two hours later, at 7:35 a.m., SLED sent out a notification that the alert had been canceled as the baby had been found.
The authorities had earlier mentioned that the child was last spotted around 6 p.m. on January 2nd at a Roses store located at 1508 South Irby St. in Florence. At that time, she was accompanied by Macie Eaddy, 32. Initially, it was reported that Eaddy might have been driving a 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer with a temporary SC license plate bearing the code XWR0804H.
The Florence Police Department is currently investigating the case, as stated by SLED. In a Facebook post on Friday morning, the department confirmed that both the child and the suspect had been located. Fortunately, the child was found unharmed.
In a press release on Friday, the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office disclosed that they promptly responded to a report at approximately 7 a.m. concerning the sighting of the white Mitsubishi mentioned in the Amber Alert. Spotting the vehicle exiting a restaurant on Highway 15 South in Sumter County, deputies conducted a traffic stop.
Eaddy drove alone in the Mitsubishi, as stated in the Sumter release. According to her, she dropped off the child at an apartment complex in Florence, with the company of a mutual friend. The Sumter deputies contacted the Florence Police, who successfully located and retrieved the child, according to the Sumter Sheriff’s release.
On Friday morning, Eaddy was apprehended by the Sumter deputies and is currently in custody, awaiting extradition to Florence County.
