Arizona’s Democratic Attorney General Kris Mayes has taken a firm stance on protecting immigration rights, particularly for Dreamers. She has made it clear that she will not waver in her commitment to fight against the establishment of deportation centers or the separation of families. Mayes boldly asserts that any proposals to implement such measures are completely unacceptable and will not be entertained.
Mayes fervently supported Dreamers, those who arrived in the United States as children and are protected by the DACA program. She stressed that any attempt by the federal government to deport them would be a clear violation of her principles. “I refuse to accept any effort to deport them or diminish their rights,” she declared. “We will not allow it to happen on our own soil.”
She expressed her worries regarding mass deportation proposals, cautioning that they could result in abuses and unjust treatment. Although she supports the removal of violent criminals and cartel members from the U.S., she vehemently opposes policies that harm innocent individuals.
Mayes is not the only one who holds this view. She is joined by other Attorneys General from border states, such as Raúl Torrez from New Mexico and Rob Bonta from California. Together, they stand united in their commitment to upholding due process and protecting individual rights.
Mayes also recognizes the importance of addressing the fentanyl crisis. However, he emphasizes that border security should prioritize the allocation of federal resources for Border Patrol and prosecuting individuals linked to cartels, rather than deporting innocent families.
During her interview, Mayes emphasized the importance of respecting Arizona’s laws and the U.S. Constitution. She expressed her determination to fight for what she believes is right.
