According to Fort Lee Deputy Police Chief Edward Young, the incident took place around 11:40 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18th, on Lemoine Avenue near 2025 Lemoine Avenue.
The parked car’s driver was taken by surprise as his vehicle was suddenly jolted by a black sedan driven by 27-year-old Aisaih Alvarez, which rammed into it from behind.
The victim walked out to confront the sedan’s driver, but instead of halting, Alvarez inched forward, hitting the man before speeding and dragging him a short way. The vehicle then raced south down Lemoine Avenue, leaving the victim injured on the ground.
According to Young, the victim was quickly taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. Young mentioned that the victim is expected to make a full recovery.
Within a span of less than four hours, diligent patrol officers managed to trace the black sedan to the Skyview Motel on Bergen Boulevard, showcasing their exceptional investigative skills. It was at this location that they successfully identified the driver as Alvarez, who happens to be a self-employed food delivery driver from the Bronx.
Alvarez was apprehended peacefully and slapped with a series of charges, which encompass aggravated assault, assault by auto, fleeing the scene of an accident causing personal injury, failing to report an accident, and engaging in reckless driving. Subsequently, he was transferred to the Bergen County Jail, where he currently awaits his upcoming court hearings.
The Fort Lee Police Department is currently conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident and is urging anyone who may have additional information to step forward.
