A talented teenager from Phoenix has been chosen to represent Arizona in America’s 250th celebration, which is truly something to be celebrated. Their exceptional artwork has been recognized as a perfect embodiment of the state’s spirit and will be showcased during this significant event. This achievement is a testament to the teen’s artistic talent and dedication.
A few months ago, Arizona initiated the “America250” logo contest, inviting talented individuals from the state to design a logo that would symbolize Arizona on the momentous occasion of the 250th Anniversary of the establishment of the United States in 2026.
While attending her classes at Pinnacle Peak High School, 17-year-old Riley Hammett received an exciting message from her mom. It was a text informing her that she had emerged as the winner of the contest.
On Friday, Hammett and Secretary of State Adrian Fontes appeared on Good Morning Arizona with Tess Rafols to talk about the design and the America250 celebration in 2026.
Hammett expressed her desire for the design to evoke the rustic beauty of her Arizona surroundings. To achieve this, she incorporated warm tones of tan and copper, along with a prominent cactus motif.
Hammett, a senior at Pinnacle High School, expressed her desire to capture the rustic essence of Arizona in her creation. “When I was putting it together, I wanted it to have the rustic feel of Arizona because we live in such a beautiful desert,” she explained.
According to Fontes, Hammett’s logo embodies the true essence of Arizona.
Fontes praised the design, saying, “She put it together in her first attempt, and it turned out to be stunning.”
Hammett’s artwork will take center stage at an event scheduled for April 18, 2025, marking the official launch of the logo. This momentous occasion will kickstart a year and a half of celebrations leading up to the United States’ 250th Anniversary in 2026.
Riley, a passionate nail designer, aspires to become a celebrity nail artist, which she considers her dream job. She has been recognized for her talents and has even received college scholarships, making her contemplate the possibility of pursuing a degree in graphic design.
