Traffic Stop Results In Arrest For Felony Possession

At about 11:36 a.m. on Dec. 20, 2024, Officer Parker Dahlberg conducted a traffic stop on a white Dodge Durango for speeding.

The police pulled over the driver for exceeding the posted 50 mph speed limit by going 66. The SUV bore a Florida license plate.

Two men from Texas, claiming to be on their way to Denver from South Dakota, occupied the van. During the traffic check, Officer Dahlberg detected the stench of marijuana near the vehicle.

Authorities obtained consent to search the car. During the search, authorities discovered used syringes indicative of narcotic use.

Additionally, a vial containing about 10 grams of suspected heroin was discovered in a little bag that the rear seat passenger claimed possession of.

Police charged Shawn Baxter, 39, with felony possession of a controlled drug. The driver of the vehicle, Dante Lozoya, 26, was cited and released for speeding and possession of drug paraphernalia.
