On Saturday night, law enforcement officers conducted a traffic stop off Highway 80, resulting in the arrest of two individuals.
Two Texas residents, David Villegas, 30, and Buitrago Bermudez, 21, were apprehended by law enforcement.
Deputy Tyler Pearson pulled over a vehicle that was swerving and traveling at inconsistent speeds while heading eastbound on Highway 80.
The sheriff’s office discovered that during the stop, Bermudez, the driver, was driving without a license. Additionally, they found multiple open alcoholic beverages inside the car.
During the search of the vehicle, authorities uncovered a stash of suspected cocaine. As a result, Villegas was charged with possession of cocaine and public intoxication.
Both men were held in the Russell County Detention Center.
