According to the police, three women were discovered deceased inside a residence in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday.
Around 4 p.m., officers were alerted by an individual who discovered their friends in a state of medical distress within a residential property, according to officials.
“We are working through the manner of death to determine what actually happened before we release any of that information,” said Sgt. James Fuqua, public information officer for Columbus Police.
According to Fuqua, responders found three female victims inside the home and pronounced them all dead there.
“It’s unfortunate when someone loses their life, but particularly this time of year during the holidays,” Fuqua said. “It’s going to be very difficult for all of these victim’s families to come to the grips that, unfortunately, these family members will no longer be in their lives.”
Officials said that no drugs were discovered at the scene, and they are treating it as an ongoing homicide investigation. They are currently working to determine the cause of death.
Currently, no one is in custody, and it is important to note that the individual who reported the incident is not considered a suspect.
Fuqua described the scene as “very complex.”
“It’s going to take a little bit longer to make sure that we’re very careful and going through the scene meticulously, so we do not miss any key piece of evidence because unfortunately, it’s very unusual to have so many victims in one incident,” he added.
