Police have been arrested in connection with a carjacking that occurred in the Capitol Hill Safeway parking garage (415 14th St. SE) about Halloween.
At around 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, two suspects approached the victim within the parking garage. One of the suspects pointed a weapon at the victim and demanded the car keys.
The suspects then fled in the victim’s automobile, followed by another vehicle, a white 2019 Audi Q7 with Virginia plate 2687EB.
The case gained traction as images appeared on social media alleging to depict a very young individual in the passenger seat of one of the vehicles involved in the crime, pointing a weapon at the photographer.
On Thursday, December 5, 2024, police detained a 13-year-old juvenile from Southeast and charged him with armed carjacking. However, authorities claim the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is currently investigating the situation.

The MPD is currently providing a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals accountable for a violent crime in the District of Columbia.
