US Customs and Border Protection recovered more than two dozen guns from a bus traveling from South Texas to Mexico.
Officers from CBP’s Office of Field Operations claimed they discovered the firearms, including 43 magazines of various calibers, on a Mexican-bound commercial bus at the Hidalgo International Bridge in Hidalgo, Texas, on Friday.
Officers were performing outbound inspections on cars leaving the United States, and they examined the bus with X-rays and a K-9 unit.
Carlos Rodriguez, port director for the Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry, lauded cops for their “strict vigilance” in both inbound and outbound traffic.
“Their inspections experience, attention to detail and technology all contributed to this significant outbound weapons seizure,” he said.
CBP’s Office of Field Operations seized the firearms and the bus, while Homeland Security investigators conducted an investigation.
