A Pleasantville house fire on Thursday afternoon left one person injured and resulted in the death of a pet.
The Pleasantville Fire Department responded to the fire at 907 Linden Street around 6:45 p.m. after receiving reports of flames coming from the kitchen. The first engine on the scene was able to mostly extinguish the fire by the time the second engine arrived.
The homeowner had returned to find their kitchen engulfed in flames and suffered a minor hand injury. The injury did not require medical attention. Fortunately, no other people were injured, though one pet died in the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
In the aftermath, the Fire Department is cautioning drivers in the surrounding area about slippery conditions caused by excess water on the roads.
