Houston, Texas, is in for a shift in weather as the weekend follows Black Friday’s shopping rush, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
While Friday is expected to be relatively mild, with highs near 61 degrees, the city will face cooler nights, with temperatures dipping to around 44 degrees.
The weekend will feature a mix of partly sunny skies and some potential rain by evening, offering a break from the strong northerly winds that have been gusting up to 20 mph.
As Saturday night arrives, the forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies, with temperatures dropping to around 50 degrees. Sunday will bring partly sunny conditions, with highs reaching near 67 degrees.
However, the calm weather may not last long, as the NWS warns of a 20% chance of showers after midnight on Sunday, with rain chances gradually increasing through the week. This unpredictable weather serves as a reminder of Houston’s ever-changing conditions.
In the northern regions of Texas, much colder temperatures are expected. The NWS advises residents north of I-10 to prepare for a significant temperature drop, with lows possibly reaching 30 degrees.
A freeze warning has been issued for northeast Texas, effective from midnight tonight until 9 a.m. Saturday. This warning highlights the risk of freezing temperatures that could impact crops and outdoor plumbing.
The week ahead will continue to see fluctuating conditions, with the potential for showers increasing as the days progress. Tuesday brings a 30% chance of rain, which rises to 50% by Wednesday.
Showers are expected to intensify on Wednesday night and Thursday, with temperatures reaching a mild 74 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.
