Mother and Child Sustain Injuries in milk tanker trailer Accident

A milk tanker trailer that failed to stop for a stop sign collided with a woman’s vehicle in Hazel Green, resulting in injuries to the woman and one of her children, according to Grant County Sheriff’s officials.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Kirkwood and Center Road around 8:50 a.m. The driver of the vehicle, 31-year-old Megan Clendenen of Kieler, was traveling eastbound on Kirkwood Road with her two children.

At the same time, a semi truck driven by 56-year-old George Sergent of Monroe was heading south on Center Road, pulling a milk tanker. Sergent, unfortunately, did not notice Clendenen’s car and proceeded to run the stop sign.

Clendenen’s vehicle sustained significant damage on the driver’s side, causing the airbags to deploy. Fortunately, Clendenen and her children were wearing seatbelts or properly secured in child seats.

Clendenen and one of her children suffered minor injuries and were transported to a hospital for treatment. Sergent, on the other hand, did not sustain any injuries in the accident.

He was cited for inattentive driving and failure to stop at a stop sign. The Hazel Green Fire Department, Dickeyville Police Department, Hazel Green EMS, and the Sheriff’s Office all provided assistance at the scene.
