North Carolina Woman Sentenced To 7-10 Years In Prison For Stealing Over $2 Million

A woman from North Carolina admitted her guilt for embezzlement in Onslow County Superior Court on February 18th.

Karen Pierce Ramos admitted her guilt in court, pleading guilty to three counts of class C felony embezzlement and three counts of class H felony embezzlement.

In November 2022, Ramos got arrested for embezzling funds from the businesses she was associated with and depositing them into her personal account.

Ramos, who had worked as a bookkeeper and finance manager for six businesses in eastern North Carolina, has been found guilty of embezzling an estimated total of $2,161,955.73 from these companies over a period spanning from 2011 to 2018. In her confession, Ramos admitted to misappropriating the funds by making unauthorized charges on the company credit cards.

Ramos is currently serving her sentence of 90-120 months in the North Carolina Prison System. As part of her conviction, Ramos has been ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $1,661,955.73. It is worth noting that she was given a credit of $500,000 for the property she turned in.
