Former Laurel Police Officer Receives Sentence For Fatal Shooting Of Jasper County Woman In 2019

A Simpson County court has handed down a sentence to a former Laurel police officer who was charged with the fatal shooting of a woman from Jasper County in 2019.

Christopher Wade Robertson has entered a guilty plea for manslaughter and has been handed a 20-year prison sentence. However, he will only serve three years behind bars, with the remaining 17 years being served under probation.

The court has suspended the remaining 17 years of his sentence and placed him on five years of supervised probation. If he were to be arrested during this probation period, he could face sentencing for the remaining 17 years. However, if he manages to stay out of trouble during this five-year window, he will not be subject to the remaining 17 years of his sentence.

Once Robertson is released from prison, he will be placed under supervised release.

In 2020, a grand jury indicted Robertson for manslaughter in the tragic shooting death of Dominique Henry.

On November 20, 2019, Henry tragically lost his life after being shot outside of a residence.

According to the indictment, it was alleged that Robertson was the one who shot Henry, and it was further stated that he was not acting in self-defense at the time the shots were fired.

In 2018, Robertson was also convicted of aggravated assault for his involvement in the brutal beating of James Barnett.
