In a shocking turn of events, two individuals have been charged with criminal offenses after allegedly attempting to use a forged document in an audacious bid to steal a house owned by the City of Dellwood.
William M. Askew has been charged by St. Louis County prosecutors with several felony counts, including attempted stealing of over $25,000, identity theft, forgery, and filing false documents. A preliminary hearing for his case is scheduled for March 25.
Angel L. Mileur is facing serious charges including felony forgery, identity theft, and filing false documents. A preliminary hearing for her case has been scheduled on March 18 in St. Louis County court.
Earlier this week, law enforcement officials apprehended both suspects, who are currently being held in the St. Louis County Jail on a cash-only bond of $100,000.
In early September of 2024, an individual donated a house located on Chamber Road to the City of Dellwood, as stated in a probable cause statement from the North County Police Cooperative. On September 12th, Mileur visited City Hall to address a “problem” concerning the house, which has an estimated value of approximately $91,000.
According to the police, Mileur claimed ownership of the house, stating that the original owner had signed a quitclaim deed a few weeks prior. However, upon contacting the man who donated the house, it was revealed that he did not sign any quitclaim deed for Mileur.
The statement reveals that the document was allegedly signed while the original homeowner was serving time in jail.
According to the statement, Mileur confessed to completing the deed, which included a section specifically designated for a notary public. The notary, however, informed the police that she had previously notarized a document for Mileur, but not the recent quitclaim deed.
According to the statement, Askew and Mileur allegedly filed a fraudulent quitclaim deed together at the St. Louis County Recorder of Deeds office. The deed was in both of their names.
According to police, Mileur claimed that she had intentions of selling the house and had already received a down payment of $500.
