5 People Injured And 1 Fatality In Adams County New Year’s Eve Shooting; Shooters Remain At Large

A New Year’s Eve shooting in Adams County left at least one person dead and several others injured after multiple gunshots were fired in the neighborhood of Finger Lane, which is off Lower Woodville Road.

Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten reported that an ambulance transported three victims to Merit Health Natchez, while private automobiles transported two more victims. He stated that additional individuals who might have sustained injuries on the scene chose not to seek medical attention. He believes that at least two shooters were involved in the incident and remain at large.

“At approximately 9:48 p.m. officers responded to a shooting on Finger Lane in the Cloverdale area,” he said. “Upon my arrival, I made contact with Adams County Sheriff’s Office investigators who stated multiple people were shot. … Right now we’re gathering as much evidence from the scene as possible and it is an active ongoing investigation. We will update you all on the progress. We’re working to bring this to a closing as quickly as possible and have reached out to other agencies to assist us with that.”
