41-year-old Man Shot To Death At Coney Island Apartment Complex

According to authorities, a man aged 41 was killed in a shooting incident at an apartment complex in Coney Island early Sunday.

Shamael Miller sustained multiple gunshot wounds on Neptune Ave. at W. 33rd St. at approximately 7:15 a.m., as reported by the police.

According to another employee, a construction worker who was arriving for an early-morning shift found Miller gravely injured in the lobby.

“And he thought the guy was sleeping, so he tried to shake him up and to wake him up, and he didn’t,” the man said of his colleague. “He didn’t wake up so he went to the store, got a coffee, came back and the guy still was there laying on the floor and was not responsive.”

Employees at the construction site immediately called 911 when they witnessed the incident. Medical professionals quickly arrived and transported Miller to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn. Despite their best efforts, tragically, Miller could not be saved. It was later revealed that he resided in the Briarwood neighborhood of Queens, as confirmed by the police.

“[This] kind of makes me a little nervous now, because I work here,” added the employee, who asked not to be named. “That was before coming in, so let’s say I would have came in early today. Would I have been involved because I was here?”

No arrests were made immediately.
