4 Men Detained In $200,000 Alabama Lottery Scam

Federal agents arrested four men in Foley today for their alleged involvement in a lottery scam that defrauded individuals out of $200,000.

The Department of Justice has identified four individuals as Peter Walcott, Malik Chambers, Romario Nembhard, and Jermaine Smith.

Court documents reveal that all the men mentioned in the case are residents of Baldwin County, either currently or in the past. It is important to note that these men are Jamaican nationals who are legally present in the country.

According to the documents, the men allegedly received more than 100 shipments of cash from victims, including many elderly individuals, amounting to a total of $200,000 between February 2020 and August 2023.

The four men controlled fake names and addresses, and they convinced victims from different parts of the country that they had won the lottery. The victims were then instructed to send cash to cover the supposed “taxes.”

The authorities have charged the four individuals with mail fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud.

If found guilty, the men could potentially be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison.
