A Texas Department of Public Safety traffic stop on Interstate 45 resulted in the discovery of 334 pounds of marijuana in a Sprinter van on February 26, 2025. The stop was initiated on February 18, 2025, for a minor traffic violation. After observing several indicators of criminal activity, the troopers obtained consent to search the vehicle, as stated in a press release by the Texas Department of Public Safety – Southeast Texas Region.
According to the department, the driver was arrested and booked into the Leon County Jail after the search uncovered 16 boxes of marijuana in the rear cargo area. All the marijuana was found in vacuum-sealed bags.
