33-Year-Old Bryan Man Arrested After Standoff with Police

A 33-year-old Bryan man, Mercellious McGee, has returned to the Brazos County jail for the 54th time in the past 15 years. According to Bryan police arrest reports, McGee’s most recent encounter with law enforcement occurred in the early hours of Friday, November 29.

While responding to an unrelated call, an officer spotted a vehicle commonly associated with McGee. After completing the unrelated call, the officer found the car parked at an apartment complex.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer detected the smell of marijuana and observed a pistol on the driver’s seat. Further investigation revealed that McGee, the car’s owner, had a prior felony conviction and was wanted on five municipal court warrants. When the officer saw McGee sitting in the backseat, a one-hour standoff ensued before he finally exited the vehicle and was arrested.

McGee now faces multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm, marijuana possession, and outstanding municipal court warrants.

He was released the following day after paying a total of $3,116.50 in municipal court fines and posting $6,000 in bonds for the weapons and marijuana charges. McGee also made a commitment to attend court hearings for his charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Court records show that McGee is currently awaiting ten misdemeanor trials, with eight of them related to marijuana possession, dating back to September 2019.
