$31 Million Worth of Meth Seized at Texas-Mexico Border Hidden in Shipment of Peppers

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers intercepted a massive drug shipment at the Pharr International Bridge in Texas port on Sunday, seizing 2,155 pounds of methamphetamine valued at $31.17 million. The meth was concealed within a tractor-trailer carrying a shipment of serrano peppers.

Using non-intrusive inspection equipment, CBP officers discovered 1,859 packages of meth hidden in the peppers.

The vehicle, coming from Mexico, was selected for inspection, and the drugs were found during a thorough search. The seizure highlights the ongoing vigilance of CBP in preventing illegal drugs from entering the U.S.

Homeland Security Investigations has launched a criminal investigation after seizing the drugs and the vehicle. This interception is part of broader efforts to combat the drug trade at the border.
