Three people were tragically killed and four others were injured in a fatal collision on Monday night, as confirmed by Corp. David Jones from the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The accident happened on Monday evening, around 8:45 p.m., on Highway 17 North at Wood Thrush Drive.
A 2007 Ford, carrying four people, was driving in the north direction on US 17. Meanwhile, a 2022 Kia, with three individuals inside, was trying to cross Highway 17 from a private drive.
The Ford collided with the Kia, hitting it on the side.
Sadly, two individuals in the Kia lost their lives at the accident site, while another person was taken to a hospital but, tragically, did not survive their injuries.
Jean Carlos Porfirio de Aquino, 26, Kamyla Lucas de Aquino, 30, and Maria Eduarda Lucas De Souza, 6, tragically lost their lives in the crash.
Both Porfirio and de Aquino were originally from Brazil but had recently moved to Myrtle Beach.
The Ford’s four occupants were taken to the hospital with injuries.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating this collision.
