22-Year-Old Arizona Man Dies in Road Rage Shooting, Suspect in Custody

Aramis Ross, a 22-year-old Phoenix, Arizona man, tragically died following a road rage shooting in Phoenix that left him with a “non-survivable catastrophic brain injury.”

The incident occurred on Wednesday, November 13, around 6:30 p.m. near I-17 and West Dunlap Avenue. According to Phoenix police, an “extended road rage incident” between Ross and a 19-year-old male suspect escalated when traffic came to a stop. The suspect fired a gun, striking Ross.

Ross was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Police confirmed he suffered a catastrophic brain injury, rendering his injuries non-survivable.

The 19-year-old suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, later turned himself in to authorities, notifying them of his involvement in the shooting. Police reported that the suspect was unharmed.

The area surrounding the Dunlap Avenue overpass was closed for several hours as investigators processed the scene. The Phoenix Police Department is continuing its investigation, with findings to be submitted to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for review.

On the same evening, police responded to a separate shooting at an apartment complex on Cactus Road, just a mile north of the freeway. Initially, investigators believed the two incidents might be connected but later determined they were unrelated.

In the Cactus Road shooting, a man sustained a Gun Violence wound to the foot and is expected to recover. The suspect in that case remains at large.
