Most people use their vehicles for everyday purposes, such as traveling to work, visiting family and friends, and so on. Nonetheless, many drivers utilize their vehicles to perpetrate crimes. Recently, authorities detained two males for robbery and fleeing during a traffic stop. Of course, this perilous chase may have led to automobile accidents with other drivers on the road, but things never escalated to that point.
Trying to evade a traffic stop is never a good idea
According to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call on December 4th regarding a grocery store robbery. The caller not only described the perpetrators’ vehicle, but also provided their license plate number. Initially, the caller was following the criminals, but the cops quickly took control and attempted a traffic stop.
The robbery suspects, like many criminals, attempted to avoid the traffic stop for as long as possible. However, events took a turn when the driver lost control of the dark-colored Ford SUV. As a result, he crashed into a pole. Nonetheless, the two men began their escape on foot. At this point, the police utilized a helicopter to locate the men. They were hiding in two backyards, both within a block of the vehicle collision.
The attempted traffic stop clearly identified the culprits. Billy Owens, 59, and Patrick Deleon, 49, are the two men involved. Two individuals were arrested by police. They face charges of escaping arrest or detention using a motor vehicle, resisting arrest or detention on foot, and stealing. As previously said, starting a police chase is especially risky because it can lead to car accidents involving other cars. Fortunately, that did not happen in this case.
