On December 9, 2024, a report of an aggravated kidnapping in the 12300 block of Clifton Hills Rd prompted the prompt response of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. A comprehensive investigation was swiftly initiated, with the assistance of multiple agencies, such as the El Paso Police Department, Horizon Police Department, the Texas Rangers, the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force, and the United States Border Patrol Special Operations Group (SOG).
The investigation uncovered that the victim had been forcefully abducted, prompting immediate efforts to locate and safely retrieve them. Continuing with the investigation, the task force carried out follow-up operations on December 18, 2024, and executed a search warrant at a residence situated in the 600 block of Onate, El Paso. At around 11:35 PM, law enforcement officers entered the property and effectively rescued the victim, finding them unharmed inside the residence.
The victim received a thorough evaluation at a nearby hospital to ensure their safety and well-being.
Two suspects, Uriel Herrera Contreras, 40, and Jose Antonio Herrera, 44, were apprehended during the operation. They have been charged with aggravated kidnapping and have been booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility. Each suspect is currently being held on a $400,000 bond.
The authorities have not revealed specific information about the details of the kidnapping. However, the Sheriff’s Office has highlighted that the victim’s safe return was possible due to a well-coordinated effort involving multiple agencies. The investigation is still in progress, with detectives actively collecting more information.
