2 Shoplifters Arrested In Gulfport And One Charged With Drug Possession

Gulfport authorities have apprehended two individuals for the act of shoplifting.

Gulfport Police Department announced in a press release that two individuals, Champagne Azizi Burnett (26) and Tanisha Fleecia Kennedy (43), were apprehended on December 18th, 2024.

Officers received a report of shoplifting in the 9300 block of Highway 49 at around 8:47 p.m. They apprehended the two individuals as they were leaving the business. Upon searching them, officers discovered concealed merchandise worth $1,062.99 in their possession.

It was discovered that Burnett had two outstanding felony warrants for shoplifting from previous incidents.

During their transportation to the police station, it was discovered that Kennedy had a controlled substance concealed under her shirt. She attempted to dispose of it by dropping it onto the vehicle’s floorboard.

Both Burnett and Kennedy have been taken into custody and are currently being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. They are being held without bond. Burnett has been charged with shoplifting, while Kennedy faces charges of both shoplifting and possession of a controlled substance.
