Two individuals were arrested on Saturday in Evansville, Indiana, after being accused of using counterfeit $100 bills at multiple businesses.
In February, authorities in Evansville, Indiana took two men into custody from out-of-state following an investigation into several incidents of counterfeit bills being used at local businesses, as reported by WEHT.
Indiana authorities were called to multiple businesses following reports of counterfeit bills being used to make purchases, according to the report.
According to WEHT, the businesses that were present included a McAlister’s Deli, a Chick-Fil-A location, and Office Depot.
According to police, the counterfeit bills discovered were actually $10 bills that had been altered to resemble $100 bills. Authorities also mentioned that surveillance footage captured the suspect leaving the scene in a silver Ford SUV.
Police took 47-year-old Dennis Carter of St. Petersburg, Florida into custody after they noticed a vehicle that matched the description and conducted a traffic stop. Upon investigation, authorities uncovered the following, as reported by WEHT:

- A concealed weapons permit with the name Elton Tillman

- A fake South Carolina driver’s license

- A small plastic tube containing methamphetamine
According to the report, authorities later apprehended Kyle Owens, a 36-year-old resident of Jack, Alabama, during a separate traffic stop.
Owens admitted to authorities that he had utilized counterfeit bills at various establishments, including O’Reilly Auto Parts, AutoZone, and McAlister’s Deli, among others.
After being arrested, Carter faced several charges, according to the outlet.

According to a report by WEHT, Owens faced charges of forgery and both suspects were subsequently taken into custody at the Vanderburgh County Jail.
